There's an App for THAT?! - Funny, but Really Useful Edition

For the entire month of June we're tweeting about some of the coolest and best apps we've ever heard of. The theme of this week's tweets is "Funny, but Really Useful Apps." Some might seem crazy and some are kind of silly, but trust us, they can really come in handy. We hope you enjoy reading about these fun apps and maybe give them a try too! Stay tuned for next week's theme of "Business On-The-Go" Edition.

For the one that always loses their phone...
Marco Polo is a sweet iPhone app that lets you shout "MARCO!" and your phone will respond "Polo!"

For the movie buff...
Run Pee is an app for iPhone, Android and Windows phones that tells you the best time to run to the bathroom during movies. Since there isn't a "pause" button in movie theaters, and you don't want to miss any exciting scenes or plot twists, use Run Pee to tell you the best time to go, as well as what you will miss when you're gone.

For the musically inclined...
Loopy app by A Tasty Pixel lets users create music by layering and looping recordings of their singing, beatboxing, or real musical instruments. It was also featured on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon! See the video below for a hilarious rendition of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by Billy Joel and Jimmy Fallon.

For your next game night...
Phrase Party! is a super fun game to play with your friends at the next social gathering. It's like the game Catch Phrase but has way more words and categories available. It's ready to go out of your pocket for a fun group game anytime and anywhere. There is even an option for a custom category to enter your own words! Hopefully the person's phone you are using is in a shockproof case ;-)

For the creatives...
Fiverr is the coolest thing since sliced bread. Both a website and a mobile application, you can find and contact sellers of various services for just $5. They offer many different categories; they range from graphics & design, to writing and translation, to cartoons and caricatures. Whatever you are looking to buy (or sell!) fiverr is likely to have it. And at only $5 per service, you really can't go wrong.

Top 5 Infographics of the Week: Cyber Security

Earlier this week, we experienced a power outage with our data center at Internap. During this short period of time, our customers were unable to access the site. Luckily, it didn't last long and we are back up and running now thanks to our dedicated support team that responded quickly and worked diligently.

Cyber security is, and always has been, a very important issue for us as we continue to grow and meet the demands of a technology-driven society. Nothing is more paramount than the safety of your valuable data. And apparently we weren't the only ones affected, as LinkedIn was experiencing difficulties on the same day and Internap had 3 massive outages earlier this year. Check out these infographics with stats on the importance of cyber security and the impact it can have on small-medium sized businesses.

Top 5 Infographics of the Week: Internet of Things

In 2008, the number of things connected to the internet exceeded the number of people on Earth. By 2050, we are expected to surpass 50 million different devices connected to the internet. And we're not just talking smartphones and tablets - we mean everything. Wearable tech, household appliances, smart homes, public transportation, hospitals and even cattle have all been using sensors to transmit data automatically. It is an exciting yet scary time to be alive. The various interactions between these different entities are opening up doors for more apps, more software and more auxiliary services. With so many "things" connected online, the possibilities for information exchange becoming wider everyday. Check out the top 5 infographics to learn more about the IoT.
