Whether we like to admit it or not, social media has become a huge part of our daily lives. With sayings like, "Find me on Facebook" getting dropped regularly, sometimes we don't even realize how much it is integrated into our personal lives. And with new social media sites being made continuously, we feel as though we need to exist on all of them in order to keep in touch. Wrong, wrong, wrong. We believe that some social media sites are better at some things and worse at others, and finding the right site for you can be a challenge. That is why we were so interested in learning more about social media user demographics and statistics.   • 46% of Facebook users are 45 years or older

  • The top 3 most common user occupations on Google+ are Engineer, Developer, Designer in order
  • Pinterest is most popular in the East South Central states of America (Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee) 
  • Reddit is 66% male and only 34% female

#3: Who Likes What? by KISSmetrics
  • Women are more present on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and MySpace than men overall. However, men are more active on Google+, LinkedIn, and Reddit.
  • Interestingly enough, Twitter has the largest division of wealthy users, with 27% earning $75,000 or more per year!
  • Twitter also has the largest population of users with secondary education; 37% have at least a Bachelor's degree

#4: Which Demographics Use Social Media? by docstoc
  • Instagram is most popular among African-Americans, Hispanics, and urban residents
  • Although 18-29 year olds have always maintained the highest percentage of social media usage, their overall usage has been dropping - from 92% to 83% over the course of one year
  • On the flip side, the only age demographic that increased usage over the course of December 2012 was 30-49 year olds, who increased from 73% to 77%.
