Feature Spotlight: Badges

In this feature spotlight we are digging into badges. Badges have been used for years to illustrate someone earning a reward or unlocking an achievement. Used by many other companies, most famously by Foursquare, they indicate the attainment of a goal in either a game or a non-game setting. Psychologically, they can be very powerful. Badges can evoke engagement, increased competition, and incentivizes users to keep moving forward. In relation to surveys, this is very valuable. By rewarding participants with badges, it keeps them hungry for more. Take a look at the following slides to learn more about badges and see how easy they are to set up.

As mentioned before, a badge is a visual tool that is used to indicate a reward or achievement by a person. When a person completes a task, such as completely filling out their profile, they earn the "Profile Verified" badge. While badges don't always appeal to everyone, they are usually effective at boosting engagement, stirring up some friendly competition, and encouraging game-like thinking in a non-game setting.

We have 5 badges already pre-loaded into your Survey Analytics account. They include "Points Bandit", "Lifetime Achievement", "Community Leader", "Profile Verified" and "WIFLY". Each of the 5 badges has a cute little image and all stand for different things. For example, when someone downloads the SurveySwipe app from the app store, they are rewarded with the "WIFLY" badge!

Adding badges to your panel is extremely fast. Simply log into your Survey Analytics account, click on "Panel" across the top bar and scroll down a bit until you see "Badges" on the left. There you will see a list of the 5 badges we have provided, as well as the opportunity to add or edit your own. Click "Edit" to edit a badge.

Once you have added the badges you want, click "Apply Badges". This only take a second to refresh, and you can even leave the page if you need to. Once it says 100% it is done adding the badges to your panel.

If you would like to add your own badges, that is an option as well. After you click the "Edit" button, this page will show up. Here you are able to upload an image and choose a name for your badge. Add as many or as little as you would like! We hope this feature spotlight was an informational resource for you, and we hope you have fun with the badge feature.
